In 1995, Swedish Death Metal band At the Gates released what many metal diehards recognized as a perfect record. Slaughter of the Soul was the evolution of the band’s trademark sound —the brutality of death metal mixed with melodic guitars — executed with absolute precision. Then they broke up. In the band’s absence, their swansong grew to be an underground classic, inspiring the next generation of metal musicians and landing on Best Albums Ever lists in metal press worldwide.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of this landmark recording, and on the heels of the band’s first new studio album since Slaughter of the Soul, Banger travels to Gothenberg to sit with all original band members—Tomas Lindberg, Anders Bjorler, Jonas Bjorler, Adrian Erlandsson and Martin Larsson—before their sold-out hometown show for an extensive interview all about Slaughter of the Soul. Also featuring all-new live concert footage and never-before-seen interviews with producer Fredrik Nordstrom and members of Shadows Fall and In Flames.
